PRESS
“This is a really sweet documentary with a heartfelt story. I wouldn’t want to have the film any other way.”
In the current world of documentary film, it is very popular to be COMBATIVE AGGRESSIVE, TRIGGERING, POLITICAL, and ANGRY.
This is not one of those stories. This is a story about patience, acceptance, commitment, consistency, and above all else- love.
We believe this film is a breath of fresh air.
We believe more people in our country would love to hear this story.
Bud + Violet won Best Picture at the Wolf Tree Film Festival, and has since gone on to be funded on Kickstarter. The film is now being submitted to film festival across the United States.
The Story Behind the Film
On assignment for Senior Services of Calhoun County and Blufish Branding, Eric Ebner and Erica Eash have been meeting and photographing Centenarians for the last 4 years. It has turned into our favorite yearly project. Now it has turned into something much more.
2 years ago we met Bud, a 100 year old WWII veteran. He was losing his memory and starting to struggle to breathe. But Bud has a secret weapon, his wife Violet. His love and admiration for her is so deep that he won't let you go 2 minutes without mentioning it. He fell in love with her when he was 9, and he's still over the moon that he caught her.
2 years later, we filmed this documentary as Violet is about to turn 100. We knew we would love the film, we knew it would be fun for us, we knew it would be an experience we would cherish. What we didn't know was how this film would resonate with people who didn't know Bud and Violet personally. This film and its message are universal. Everyone who sees it leaves a little brighter, a little more optomsitic, and with a little more love in their hearts. Bud and Violet remind us that we can have nice things. People can be good. And love can last.
